I was born and raised in Lawton and I am a proud product of Lawton Public Schools and Cameron University. I love going to school so much that I graduated from Cameron three times! In May 1994, I was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. In 2008 I earned a Master of Education in Early Childhood and in May of 2012, I completed coursework for a Master of Educational Leadership. I began my teaching career at Woodland Hills Elementary in August of 1994. I taught kindergarten there until August of 2014 when I was selected as principal of Crosby Park. I also teach college level early childhood classes at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus. I have always said that when a passion and a career come together it is a great thing. I truly love working in the field of education and consider myself a lifelong learner. The famous Oklahoman, Will Rogers, stated what I believe is paramount in my career “If you want to be successful, it’s just this simple. Love what you are doing. Know what you are doing and believe what you are doing”. I believe that working with children is a way to touch our future.
I am blessed to be the mother of two amazing children, Hunter and Ashlynn. They are my heart! Hunter is a dedicated wrestler and Ashlynn simply loves dancing. I enjoy watching them learn and grow. I am a cancer survivor and without my faith, family, friends and career, it would have been an even more difficult journey to beat cancer. As a family, we participate in several events that raise funds for cancer research and patients. We believe that being active participants in these events will help to raise an awareness of cancer and how it affects families.
